San Francisco Chronicle to be sold or closed if owner can’t lower expenses dramatically
Sure this is schadenfreude, but they’ll never admit that at least part of the reason has to be their betrayal of objective reporting. So it’s good riddance.

boo hoo, im sure they will find a way to blame the jews
I have mixed feelings here. On one hand, I will not miss the Chronicle. Although not the most leftist rag in the country (that’s a tie between the Atlanta Journal-Constitution and the Seattle Post-Intelligencer) nor as influential (i.e. destructive) as WaPo, NYT, or the irredeamable LA Times, it still is a pretty nauseating paper.
On the other hand, A big city without a paper (even a friendly one) keeping it honest? I shudder to think. Also, I don’t want to see my uncle (who works on printing presses) to be out of a job.
Lizard - While I do feel badly about your uncle and the others who might be out of jobs (except for the slimy editorial-types who caused this), I am happy for the rest of the city who will be spared the saccharine, sanctimonious preaching that passed for reporting.
That rag really did nothing to keep the city honest. There really is nowhere left for the place to slide down to.

Here I have to disagree a little. SF is admittedly a one-party city. But it’s not without its strong personalities and rivalries, and the Chronicle did enjoy holding Da Mayor’s feet to the fire for his cronyism, and hasn’t reliably been in Newsome’s corner on a number of issues either.
Lizard - I stand corrected on that point, they were not absolute sycophants of Newsome. They also published Cinnamon Stillwell through SF Gate. I can’t think of anything else though.
